Title:
Searching for similar varieties in DUS trials
Language:
Polish
Keywords:
distinctness
stability
uniformity
coefficient of similarity
Summary:
In the Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability (DUS) trials very often the large number of varieties is compared in one trial. An early detection of similar varieties can lead to reduction of this number, as only similar varieties can possibly be not distinct and these varieties have to appear together in the same trial. The generalized Gower’s coefficient of similarity was used as a tool for detecting similar varieties. The threshold value for similarity was established using data concerning different generations of the same varieties. All the considerations are illustrated using three years trial data concerning winter rye varieties.
