Summary:
The paper contains considerations on the yield component analysis. The yield component analysis consists in statistical modelling of an influence of the components on the yield; it should take into consideration a mathematical form of the relationship under study. Although there are some statistical methods adapted to the specificity of the problem, the most often used methods are still the ones using a linear model, mostly path analysis. Therefore a simulation study is presented in the paper, with an aim of answering the question if the linear model approximates satisfying enough the influence of the components on the yield.
