Title:
Application of interprofile analysis in breeding research on annual pepper (capsicum Annum L.)
Language:
Polish
Keywords:
interprofile analysis
primary lines
F1 hybrids
Summary:
In the experiments carried out in the years 1997-2001, plants of annual pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) were used as the research material, they came from six primary lines and five F1 hybrids, which were obtained by cross-breeding the former. The primary lines were the result of hybrid materials selection from various European regions over many years. The researched plant material was very diverse in terms of the morphological characteristics of plants and fruit, as well as in terms of cropping earliness. One objective of the research was to establish the usefulness for human consumption and processing of the fruit of the said regular and hybrid forms, including their habit, biological performance and extract content. It was found that the obtained F1 hybrids displayed high utility and that they may be the source of new cultivars. The comparison of fruit characteristics of the maternal, paternal lines and hybrid was conducted with the use of multi-characteristic interprofile analysis method. Based on the assumed method of data analysis, considerable profile dissimilarity was shown among the primary lines, and between them and their F1 hybrids.
