Title:
Assessment of discrimination power of measured characteristics of winter rye - in testing of varietal distinctness
Language:

Keywords:

Tukey's test
Summary:
The aim of DUS testing is to prove Distinctness. Uniformity and Stability of new varieties. Observations and measurements of numerous characteristics received in these tests are used to conduct of comparisons of varieties.
The paper presents methods that can be used to detect the characteristic with the greatest discrimination power in testing distinctness of varieties (that is such characteristics, which detect the greatest numbers of pairs of varieties). Calculations were performed for experimental data obtained in winter – rye trials conducted in experimental station at Słupia Wielka.
In this elaboration the Tukey’s test of multiple comparisons was used (R. Kala 1995) at two significance levels of 0,05 and 0,01. All necessary calculations were made in EXCEL spreadsheet and with the use of a special Pascal program.
