Summary:
In the paper, the growth of broiler chickens of lines IS and HG reared at two large-scale farms ("A" and "B") was compared utilising growth curves estimated on the basis of the chicken rearing results. The applied method of polynomial growth curves enabled identification of significant differentiation in the course of bird growth in dependence on both the line and the farm. The analysis of the results of the research shows that the growth rate of broiler chickens of the examined lines was markedly dependent on the rearing conditions. The most differentiated course of growth rate was characteristic of HG chickens reared at the "A" farm and the most stable – of IS broilers reared at the same farm. The shapes of the growth curves for the broilers reared at the "B" farm were very similar.
