Summary:
The paper presents some analytic and numerical comparisons of estimators of additive gene action effect based on phenotypic and molecular marker observations. The analytic comparison shows conditions necessary for compatibility of the methods. The numerical results indicate that the method which uses marker genotypes underestimates the effect.
