Summary:
The acceptability of seedlings of twenty plant species to the slug Arion subfuscus was tested. An acceptability index, a palatability index and a consumption index were calculated. A. subfuscus showed clear preferences for particular plant species. Information on the acceptability and the palatability of the plant species to A. subfuscus may be an important factor in directing future research on alternative pest control.
